Is Tea Good for You?

Tea has been around for millennia, and no one loves tea more than the British. Britain is known to be the second-highest tea-drinking nation after Ireland. Most people begin their day with a steaming hot cup of tea. Some even claim it stimulates them and helps get them awake to start their day off on a good note. 

A comforting cup of hot tea is known to help drag a lot of people out of their beds early in the morning, especially in the cold months. Apart from just the comforting aspects of drinking a hot cuppa in the morning, tea has several health benefits that many people are unaware of. Drinking hot tea can do wonders for the waistline, help improve your mental wellness, and have a host of other benefits.

There are several great reasons to drink tea. Let us look at a few crucial aspects in our day to day life, and assess whether tea is good for you. 

 

Anti-Inflammatory: Inflammation can have its claws in many conditions. Some of these conditions are cognitive diseases, dehydration, bloating, diabetes, and many more. Most chronic diseases have been linked to excessive inflammation that worsens to cause severe health conditions. Tea is a well-known antioxidant. These antioxidant properties help battle inflammation to control illnesses that are inflammation-driven. 

Drinking it daily even helps regulate bowel movement to reduce swelling, bloating, and increase in blood toxicity. Most people prefer a healthy detox tea each morning to control their bowel movements and reduce inflammation.

 

Helps Improve Insulin Sensitivity: Healthy teas that are steeped in teapots like green tea, oolong tea, or chai tea help reduce the risk of insulin complications that may lead to diseases like diabetes. With the ever-increasing diabetes count in the world, a natural preventative remedy is always a better choice than fad diets and unnecessary medications. 

Drinking tea in the morning is scientifically proven to decrease inflammation, improve insulin sensitivity, and protect pancreatic cells. People with a high risk of diabetes should consume a cup of tea each morning as a precaution.

 

Improves Metabolism: Yes, drinking tea helps increase metabolism to lose weight naturally. Green tea, black tea, and oolong have polyphenols that help reduce body fat and burn calories. Steeped teas are known for added anti-toxin properties. Ideally, use a hot water dispenser and steep the tea naturally each morning. This natural process helps the hot water absorb all the properties of the tea and allows maximum saturation.

People who drink two or more cups of tea each day for more than eleven to twelve weeks have shown lower body fat percentage. Since the tea helps increase metabolism by activating the mitochondria in the cells, it dissolves fat faster and helps decrease unwanted fat from the body.

 

Improves Oral Health: Most teas contain fluoride. Teas also help by increasing helpful bacteria in the mouth teas without sugar and milk (steeped in hot water only), are known to be a lot healthier than sodas, sugary drinks, and packaged fruit juices. Drinking hot tea helps decrease the risk of cavities, periodontal disease, and possibly even oral cancer. 

Hot tea helps cleanse the gums, strengthens the roots of teeth, and aids in healthy dental health. It also kills plaque and bad breath. 

 

Hydrating: There is evidence that points to tea being a healthy alternative to fruit juices and sodas in the long term. Teas are naturally hydrating, and allow the body to get water with the benefits of antioxidants at the same time. For many years it was believed that teas had diuretic properties that dehydrated the body and caused a water loss. 

Thankfully, with further research, this is not the case anymore. Some evidence also suggests that lemon tea, green tea, and chamomile tea are as beneficial to the body as drinking plain water. 

 

De-Stress:

Recent studies have shown that tea helps control the cortisol levels in the body. Cortisol is known as the stress hormone. It shoots additional cortisol into the body when stressed, which accumulates in the belly region and makes the skin look older. People who drink tea are known to de-stress a lot faster than those who don’t, resulting in a decrease in cortisol levels in their bodies. 

This steady decrease in the cortisol hormone helps decrease fat around the waistline and aids in improving skin health to look younger and supple. People who drink three to four cups of tea in a day have shown beneficial results in weight loss and maintenance, and skincare and health, rather than those who do not drink tea.
